ABSTRACT

The prosecution of the “gestalt” tendencies in the direction of their coalescence into a specific completed system takes place along two lines. Köhler develops a new approach towards the founding of a system of gestalt theory. This approach, planned in a characteristically rigorous theoretical, and straightforwardly hypothetical way, is concerned with a direct proof for the hitherto developed assertions about the significance of the gestalt concept. And Wertheimer discovers concrete principles for the elaboration of the gestalt system, for the elaboration of the standpoint into a body of thought derived directly and specifically from the gestalt concept.
