ABSTRACT
Even among solitary animals phenomena of an undeniably social nature sometimes occur. On such occasions a social instinct awakens in them which does not manifest itself at other times. Thus groups of solitary animals are con stituted for breeding, hibernating, migrating, and sleeping.
