ABSTRACT
For the past twenty years, even many of those psychoanalysts who identified themselves with Freud’s hidebound teaching were beginning to feel the need of Lebensraum, expansion along other than purely libidinal lines. An interpretative discipline will necessarily experience occasional revolts ; and psychoanalysis, in spite of the dominating personality of Freud, could not be an exception.
