SEXUALITY IN ITS CULTURAL AND SOCIAL ASPECT

Limitations and regulations of sexual life and sexual feeling have been the main characteristic and buttress of every civilization based on the biblical or almost any other religious conception. Even beyond the range of religious ideologies, certain rites regulating sexual relations were peculiar to many primitive cultures.1 The realization of their necessity, or rather of the particular character of this biological urge, appears to be as old as human history. We are concerned here, however, with this sphere of life as a problem for our present civilization.
