WHAT CAN THE PSYCHO-ANALYTICAL PROCESS INDICATE ABOUT SOCIAL LIFE?

Within a psycho-analysis that is proceeding well, this doublestandard relationship does not exist; and, consequently, the conditions of a freer inter-human relationship are better founded. I do not want to assert that the deep emotional anaesthesia provided by the emotional transference factor may be equalled by frankness in ordinary social life. Yet careful analysis of the analytic situation, in its different phases and in different persons, proves clearly the independent existence and effectiveness of this frankness-factor; and consequently the validity of our conclusion.
