ABSTRACT
Henri was King of Poland for only one year. On the death of his brother Charles in 1574 he hurriedly and secretly left the Polish capital and returned to France to ascend the throne as Henri III. Seven years later, the most splendid of all the French court festivals of the sixteenth century were produced.
