Concluding remarks

Today, as in the 1920s, women as a group continue to act as ‘watchdogs’ of morality, challenging any form of leadership that lacks commitment and accountability. This challenge also is extended to any ‘higher authority’ - religious or political - that exhibits some measure of indifference to such lack.
