Kimberley Brown World Englishes in Tesol Programs: An Infusion Model of Curricular Innovation

This paper examines possible explanations for the lack of incorporation of this paradigm in TESOL preparatory programs. In an attempt to find a way to incorporate the World Englishes paradigm into TESOL programs, I will draw upon Hamnett et al.’s (1984) threepronged approach to what they term ‘the indigenization of social science research’ (78). This paper will also explore impediments to curriculum design and teaching practice that may hamper the inclusion of the World Englishes perspective into TESOL preparatory programs.
