ABSTRACT
Amongst every people the work of the architect, the sculptor, and the painter is to translate the religious conceptions of his people into some visible form. The architect gives expression to his ideas by the manner in which he constructs his temple; whilst the sculptor and painter symbolize their religious conceptions by the way in which various images of the gods or sacred objects in the temple are represented.
