ABSTRACT

Any class in the community which seeks for the removal of political disabilities does so on principles which are now sanctioned by the Legislature as those on which the government of the country shall henceforward be conducted. All those who are interested in the general progress of society in intelligence and virtue should aid in the effort to remove the political disabilities of half the nation. When this shall be accomplished the additional power thereby gained will enable those who are working for measures of social and political reform to carry them on at a rate of progress hitherto undreamed of. Remove the cause, and the effect will begin to diminish; enfranchise the whole people, and the whole people will begin to develop political life. The franchise is needed as a protection for women in regard of equal law.
