ABSTRACT
What we have witnessed in the past two or three decades has been called the ‘Rise of the Rational Spirit’ – the belief that science can help to better the human condition [28]. The focus of this paper is on one indication of this trend: the emerging role for the behavioral scientist and, more specifically, the attempts by behavioral scientists to apply knowledge (primarily sociological and psychological) toward the improvement of human organizations.
