ABSTRACT

It frequently happens at the beginning of a conference where the language is English, that the English and Americans talk for a long period in their belief in an exploratory unstructured situation before the agenda is determined, and there is very spontaneous discussion. But sooner or later the French cannot stand it any more and they say, 'Stop!' You might say this could become an international technique. The French would learn to allow the English speakers to do this for a while and then stop them because, in the end, they might by so doing get a very nice structure.
