ABSTRACT

In considering the factors that appear to have a bearing on creativity, we have talked mainly in terms of the individual, examining his mental faculties and how he makes use of them. At several points, however, a dominant factor has been the grouping of people into problem-solving units. The individual then behaves differently, particularly in terms of his interaction with the problem. It is this functioning of groups and individuals-in-groups that we should discuss here as a factor at least as important in its effect on creativity as any other we have indicated.
