ABSTRACT
Before the second, world war forty-eight automatic looms were introduced into the Jubilee Mill, being absorbed into a shed containing some hundreds of ordinary non-automatics. So far as running and staffing were concerned they were treated as non-automatics with labour-saving attachments. Though fewer workers were required—twelve as against twenty six—occupational roles were unchanged and work organization remained the same.
