'Drop everything. Drop Dada ...' Thus, in 1922, André Breton openly acknowledged a break in the Dada movement. 2 Together with most of the other Dadaists, he broke violently with Tzara, 3 who retained only a few faithful followers, and devoted himself to organizing what was gradually to become known officially as the Surrealist group (Premier manifeste, 1924a).
