Grossman, Machácˇek, Schorm: three major Czech directors of the late twentieth century

I would like to supplement the previous studies of Hilar, Burian, Radok, and Krejcˇa with a briefer look at three other Czech directors of lesser prominence but of uncontestable importance in defining the best of Czech theatre in the second half of the twentieth century, especially in Prague. I have made various references to them in previous chapters and there will be some other references to them in the remainder of the book, but I believe that their work warrants a more detailed account here.1
