ABSTRACT
As elucidated in chapter 10, the rise of Islamist terrorism in the Middle East can be traced to the Egyptian President Sadat’s breach of the Arab solidarity by signing a bilateral peace treaty with Israel in 1979. A generation later, Arab-Israeli relations, as defined by Palestinians, remain at the core of the problem of terrorism in the region and elsewhere.
