ABSTRACT
There are in fact two French doctoral dissertations beside me as I write this, one by Baslé, the other by Chavance (both referred to earlier), devoted wholly to the discussion of economic laws and the law of value, which together run to just about a thousand typed pages. I have myself written perhaps as many pages, in books and articles, about various aspects of the Soviet economy and of economic history. Far more than this has been written by other authors. The literature on Soviet-type economies is vast and is growing. So Part 2 of the present book will seek to draw lessons and conclusions from aspects of Soviet experience which will have been documented (by this author and by many others) in other works, with only occasional direct reference to illustrative material.
