ABSTRACT

T HE GEOLOGICAL SEQUENCE of Olduvai Gorge needs to be summarized briefly in order to see recent finds in their proper perspective. The lbwest deposit, which is clearly visible in part of the Gorge, is a massive lava up to 60 feet thick, but at one place, at the third transverse fault, underlying deposits, which seem to be lake beds, can be seen. They have not yet been explored.
