ABSTRACT
Strife characterizes Chimbu life. It was until recently expressed in frequent fights and warfare, uncontrolled by any authority. Today, the colonial administration usually succeeds in stopping fights before they develop into interclan or intertribal warfare. The fighters are sent to jail for a few months.
