ABSTRACT
The pre-history of New Guinea was virtually unknown fifteen years ago but in the past few years excavation and research dated with radiocarbon techniques suggest some tentative findings. Observations on New Guinea highlanders’ physical characteristics and studies of their blood groups indicate that the people have a common origin and have been in their area for a long time.
