ABSTRACT

This chapter introduces the first stage of the project life cycleturning good ideas into practical project proposals for implementation. We first of all ask ‘Where do ideas for projects come from?’ and then consider the methods of turning good ideas into projects. We include a number of established tools and models for developing and testing ideas in health and community services specifically, and address the question of how to get support for your project ideas. The chapter concludes with a discussion of funding for projects, responding to tendered projects or funding rounds, and contracting projects to consultants.
