ABSTRACT

Curricula subjects are taught to each classgroup simultaneously, therefore providing a certain degree of uniformity of curriculum among sezioni. Type-A variables aim at establishing level bands. Type-B variables subdivide each level band into three subgroups on the basis of socio-economic status. The students are subdivided on the basis of alphabetical order into groups of ten; two teachers are in charge of each group and take care to administer the tests according to modes and paces which are the same for all students. Students showing a great gap between technical and logical skills and students presenting contradictory data are more thoroughly analysed by comparing the papers of the fourth year of the primary school or by meeting their primary-school teachers. Students can be moved inside the same band from one sezione to another.
