ABSTRACT

Ryszard Wojna was born in 1920 and became a journalist and political commentator immediately after the Second World War. The events that are currently taking place in our country and around us in Europe will determine the course of international politics for a long time. Therefore, with great care and responsibility we should be able to separate the short-term elements in our foreign policy from what may have epochal meaning. Our diplomacy should be devoted to the differentiation between short-term and long-term trends and to the creation of conditions for taking advantage of opportunities brought by the long-term tendencies. The chapter discusses the truth is that we will not catch up with the civilizational progress that characterizes the West without direct help from Germany. This is a new factor in Polish history. The road West leads through Germany and with Germany. But what we are doing instead is falling back into old ways of opening old sores, anxieties, and traumas.
