ABSTRACT

After several months and weeks of agonizing attempts to get together Isaac Julien, Stuart Marshall, Joy Chamberlain, and myself for a roundtable discussion, we finally managed to coincide with our respectively busy schedules. I enticed them with promises of a wonderful brunch and champagne, and so, one sunny Saturday morning in May 1991, we gathered at my house in North London to rap about our desires, pleasures, and problems as filmmakers.
