ABSTRACT

The head of a company presents a project to the staff representative committee. Suddenly an opponent stands up and launches into a vicious diatribe on the shortcomings of the management and their dishonesty. Even with the best efforts there will always be opponents who will never be allies of the project. They will do anything to fight it. The ‘price of fish’ response meets an attack with an attack. It is the basic tool to use when facing an opponent. It allows one to continue without having to respond. There are a number of ways of saying ‘price of fish’ which are more appropriate to the professional manager, banker or civil servant. A company calls a meeting of staff representatives to announce a new management plan for restructuring.
