ABSTRACT

Janet McTeer was born in Newcastle in 1961. She made her London debut at the Royal Court Theatre as Mary in The Grace o f Mary Traverse. Other stage roles have included Elizabeth I in Vivat! Vivat! Regina at the Mermaid, Cecilia in Simpatico at the Royal Court, Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing at the Queen’s Theatre, Yelena in Uncle Vanya at the National Theatre, Rosalind in As You Like It, Imogen in Cymbeline, and Masha in The Three Sisters at the Manchester Royal Exchange. For her London performance as Nora in A Doll's House, McTeer won the Olivier and Evening Standard Award for Best Actress, as well as the Tony Award for Best Actress when the play moved to New York.
