ABSTRACT

David Suchet was born in London in 1946. For the RSC, he has played in Romeo and Juliet, As You Like It, King Lear, King John, Love's Labour's Lost, The Tempest, The Merchant o f Venice, The Taming of the Shrew, Othello, Richard II, and Measure for Measure. The actor portrayed Salieri in Peter Hall’s production of Amadeus at the Old Vic. Suchet’s performance in Timon of Athens at the Young Vic earned him an Evening Standard Best Actor Award. His role in Oleanna at the Royal Court and Duke of York’s garnered a Best Actor Award from the Royal Variety Club. Suchet played George in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? at the Aldwych, and won the Critics Circle Award for Best Actor. He has also acted extensively in regional theatres including Liverpool, Birmingham, Chester, Exeter, the Edinburgh Festival and the Chichester Theatre Festival.
