ABSTRACT

Bill Gaither was born in either 1905 or 1910 in Belmont, Kentucky. He sometimes recorded under the name “Leroy's Buddy,” referring to Leroy Carr. Between 1931 and 1941, he recorded more than one hundred songs, most accompanied by Honey Hill. Gaither was also an accompanist to Lee Brown, Frank Busby, Champion Jack Dupree, Amos Easton, and Tampa Red.
