ABSTRACT
The most usual non-destructive method of measuring timber moisture content is by the use of a resistance moisture meter. Other types of meter are available, but none has achieved the prominence of the resistance meter, and they will not be discussed further. It is important to remember that these meters do not measure moisture contents directly, but infer them from wood attributes that are affected by moisture change. Many models are available, but all suffer from a variety of limitations.
