ABSTRACT
The origins of yachting have been well documented in an earlier chapter but what has yet to be discussed is the infrastructure that is required to service those yachts. While it is recognized that there are many different organizations that service yachts, for the sake of clarity, this chapter will analyse only marinas and yacht harbours. The basic criteria for managing yachts in marinas however, is transferable to rivers, estuaries and boatyards.
