ABSTRACT

This report describes a field test of Thai timber by mean of the stake-method, which is being carried out by the Wood Preservation Research and Development Section, Royal Forest Department. The test is being performed under natural conditions in various parts of the country to determine the natural durability of different timber species. The test was done outdoor by putting 5 × 5 × 50 cm. stakes into testing grounds. The tested samples are investigated at six-monthly intervals, and are considered terminated when all samples of each species in each plot have been destroyed by decay and/or termites. The summary of results so far obtained, is given for 177 species.
