ABSTRACT

Scholars from de Zoysa to Law have always assumed that the Sasanava'f(tsa was an original composition by the Burmese monk Paiiiiiisami, a Pali author of some note who was the royal tutor of King Min-don.9 Paiiiiiisami identified himself in the conclusion to the Sasanava'f(tsa, and explained there as well as in the preamble that he was writing in Pali for the benefit of a delegation of Sinhalese monks who were visiting Mandalay. Here is Law's translation of Paiiiiiisami's introduction.
