ABSTRACT
The present paper takes the notion of the interpretive community as its theme, and specifically the procedures through which such communities come into being and are reconstituted at times of change. I will approach this problem by considering three cases, but first I will begin with some background that may help to put the notion of the interpretive community into its scholarly context, and give a general account of it.
