The Amman Financial Market (AFM) was established in 1976 as a public financial institution with legal, administrative, and financial independence. Its main objectives are to mobilize savings by encouraging investments in securities, and to regulate and control the issuance and trading of securities in the country. The AFM started its first day of trading on 1 January 1978, and its establishment was a major step in developing the financial sector in Jordan.
