ABSTRACT
Western Europe. Traditionally, Aleppo had been the marketplace for eas t-west
trade, but it was located one hundred miles inland, behind a coastal range o f
mountains that rise to five thousand seven hundred feet. It still possesses the m o s t
interesting working bazaar in the world, which has not, like so many others ,
become m erely a tourist at t ract ion.
