While mortar was also still purchased at 5d. per hod (in 1782-83) it can be assumed that the unspecified 6d. rate is for mason’s mortar, but after 1783 when only the 3d. rate occurs it cannot be determined whether this is still for mason’s mortar or a rise of the lower level (see Lime & Hair, rising from 8d. to 9d. per hod in 1785).
