ABSTRACT

Hampton Court prices per C continue to 1814, but after 1804 carriage is not stated and evidently rises considerably above 2s. 6d. In 1808 20s. per C against 15s. for London shows carriage to be 5s. but thereafter prices fluctuate and no more evidence is available, though carriage is now always included. The London table has not therefore been extended by interpolation from Hampton Court prices, though price-relatives have been calculated for 1809-14, using Hampton Court prices reduced in the ratio given by the last year showing carriage differences between the two places, i.e. 15 : 20, with a half line after 1808.
