ABSTRACT
Thrums, which were used for mops, were bought with fair regularity for several ports but have been tabulated only for Deptford/Woolwich, with prices for unspecified ports and Chatham/Gillingham to 1640 and for Chatham after 1640 inserted to fill gaps as follows :—1566-70 port unspecified ; 1572-74 C/G ; 1579, 1585-88, 1591, 1602-03, 1605-06, 1611 and 1615-16 port unspecified; 1623 Chatham ; 1624, 1625-28, 1634 and 1636 port unspecified ; 1641, 1644, 1668, 1673-77 Chatham. Thereafter Deptford, Woolwich and Chatham were supplied under one contract and insertions are not noted. Prices are usually quoted in pence per lb. but occasionally per cwt. They have been tabulated in shillings per doz. lb.
