Since the year 1815 ³ many hundreds of colonisation schemes have been evolved, some under the ægis of the Home and Colonial Governments, others under the patronage of charitable bodies, whilst yet a third group owe their origin to commercial enterprise. Most of them have long been abandoned and forgotten, but the more typical of those of which we can still find records are described in the following pages.
