ABSTRACT

H Ersdottts in his fourth book affirmeth, that among the African Shepherds toward the Eaft , therc are bred in Bajjaria Hyftricbes wilde Rams, Tboes and VyUyes, of which laft there is not any mention among all other writers, except in Varinus and Hefycbim, who affirm that a m o n g the Lacedemcnians a Glead or Kite was called Vydif, but this fpoken of Herodotw I con jedure t o be fome four-footed, beaft, being led with no other reafon then that the other with whom he placeth i t , are generally known to be creatures of that kind and na ture : wherefore I thought good to exprefs the name of it in this place,defiring the Reader t o accept fo much thereof as is already known, and to fearch farther for the defcription of it , at the hands of them who are eye-witneffes of the wonders of Africa.
