ABSTRACT
The emergence of Nazism, the German variety of Fascism, has not only saved capitalism in that country from Social Revolution, but has thrown Europe back to where it stood on the eve of the first World War. Adolf Hitler has taken upon himself the role of Saviour of German capitalism in its hour of doom, fighting desperately to beat back the forces of Social Revolution at home, and to reassert its hegemony over Europe. The Spanish conflict clearly shows that Europe is more and more dividing itself into two ideological camps: Fascist and anti-Fascist, a fact which accounts to a large extent for the instability of alliances and alignments, for national interests are being subordinated to class interests. Following the February riots in Paris, and the aggressive policy of the Fascists in France, the Russian Communist leaders, unable to rely upon the European workers to defend the Soviet Union, if attacked, decided to pursue a policy of Realpolitik.
