ABSTRACT
In the process of Art finding itself there are many movements which appear opposed to one another and might be co–ordinates to produce eventually some great national Art. Modern painting has two elements as foundations for its development: it has the Cubist abstract design which has opened eyes to beauty in strength, and it has the Impressionist outlook which has opened eyes to purity of colour. The modern Art is making an effort towards a higher standard there is unhappily a very serious lack of good teaching, and the incomplete work of the older generation is still influencing the minds of students. The teaching of the generation is responsible for several bad elements in painting. There is a great deal of brain and activity amongst now which should be uses and put to account, which could regenerate the Art of the country and create a wholesome, strong and sincere school of painting in England.
