ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a synthesis of the main results of three studies on policy coherence conducted at the OECD Development Centre and discusses their implications for development co-operation policy. These studies analyse present economic relations between major OECD countries and three developing regions and examine how aid, trade and other pertinent policies of OECD countries are congruent with, and conducive to, sustained growth and development of these regions. The three developing regions are low-and middle-income member countries of ASEAN (Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Thailand), South Asia (Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka), and North Africa (Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia). 1
