‘Golden Boys' of Playing Field and Battlefield: Celebrating Heroes — ‘Lost' Middle-Class Women Versifiers of the Great War

Deeply moved by the events of the Great War certainly hundreds and possibly thousands of women between 1914 and 1919 published short lyrical verses in newspapers, weeklies, pamphlets and small volumes of poetry. A smaller number wrote in later years of the war. If they are not to be found in later Great War anthologies, they were well represented in the publications of the Great War years.
