Oslo is Dead, Long Live Brussels!

The current renewed outbreak of violence in the Middle East, in which the hitherto main broker - Washington - is now reluctant to dirty its hands, leaves the European Union as the only other alternative to get negotiations going again, even if there is not much promise, at this point, of a quick result. For there is always hope that when the guns are silent, the muses may be aroused by determined, fair, imaginative and purposeful mediators. This is precisely the role that Europe can play at this crucial moment of truth, before things get worse and the damage irreversible and irreparable.
