Biographical Notes

Dick Anthony is a research psychologist who has supervised a number of research programs on the psychological and social concomitants of membership in new religious movements. These programs were funded by, among others, the National Institute of Mental Health, the National Institute on Drug Abuse, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Ford, Rockefeller and San Francisco Foundations. He has published the results of this research widely, and recent publications have focused upon the issue of new religions and violence. He often serves as an expert witness and consulting expert in legal cases involving new religions.
