ABSTRACT
This chapter describes the history and development of domestic windows. It includes common materials, window styles and glazing methods, together with maintenance failures and common defects. Windows should fulfil a variety of functions (light, ventilation, thermal and noise insulation) and they have a huge impact on a building's appearance and character.
