ABSTRACT

This chapter addresses the talent–attracting, retaining and developing the right quality people, teams–building effective teams, so that work is managed efficiently. It also addresses tomorrow's leaders–harnessing the power of the next generation and growing tomorrow's partners. The chapter focuses on the main concerns of partners in property practices and one of the greatest limitations on a firm's future growth. It discusses the human resource management and employment legislation. While many people think that an active and planned approach to staff communications is the preserve of the large firms, it is actually a topic that requires attention for relatively small firms. A strategic and proactive approach to recruitment is essential in all surveying companies. Graduate recruitment needs to be tackled as part of the overall graduate intake programme where you will need to provide the necessary training and development support.
