ABSTRACT

So far I have illustrated the complexity of using group activities for learning, however apparently simple those activities may seem in design. I have also introduced the idea that whatever the intention behind the activity, the experience of people taking part is influenced by a number of sources, including the relationships that develop amongst group members. In this chapter I will develop these ideas further. The varied influences on the experience of group participants not only affect what they learn, or affect the relationships they carry forward into subsequent activities, they are a source of learning in their own right.
